Montenegro awaits offshore oil exploration results

The first results of the investigation into whether there is oil on the Montenegrin submarine will be known by the end of the year, said the acting president. Hydrocarbon Administration Marko Adžić. Drilling, as he said, will continue tomorrow after the works for the additional security of the well.

Adzic, a guest on Montenegro Television’s morning program, said up to 5,400 meters have been drilled so far. The final works have been delayed due to, as he said, the works for the additional security of the well.

“We will continue drilling tomorrow. We expected to find out at the end of September or October if there was oil, but due to the new conditions in the well we had to slow down. We had to install another additional column for operation safety. This slowed us down a lot. We will have results by the end of the year. We expected to get into the tanks in September or October and have information on what’s in the tanks. “From October to December, so much time has been spent,” said Adžić.

The delay, he says, was not due to a mistake of the concessionaire.

“The Adriatic was drilled at 4,300 meters, which was the deepest well. The conditions in the wells were known to us to that depths. The new conditions were unexpected. There is great pressure. No one has drilled to that depth so far. This is the first well to cross. that layer that is tricky to drill. “We have overcome that critical phase and now we are moving forward,” said Adžić.

He points out that so far no mistake has been made.

“Great attention is paid to the safety of operation, a high standard has been applied. “It helps us that the well is deep, so we have over 5 or 6 kilometers of canal depth where we can react,” said Adžić.

If there are any problems, Adzic states that they are ready to answer.
