Zaev overturns what he said about resignation – Complaint about Bulgarian passport from Arsovksa

Asked today to answer relevant and ongoing journalistic questions, Zoran Zaev systematically avoided repeating what he said on Monday, namely that he would resign as the country’s prime minister if the Social Democratic Party (SDSM), which he leads, is defeated in the second round of municipal elections in the Metropolitan Municipality of Skopje.

Zaev, answering a number of questions from journalists whether he would resign as prime minister if his party’s candidate for Skopje Metropolitan Municipality, Petre Silegov, loses Sunday’s election, said:

“I confirm that I am a fighter. I am here, I have fought, I am fighting and I will continue to fight, but I need support from the people because the local government, the Municipality of Skopje, are very important for the daily life of the citizens and the daily life of the country itself. “especially now with the increased power that local government will gain with the third phase of decentralization.”

Asked if the scenario finally happens and he resigns as prime minister, who will replace him, Zaev did not answer and once again called on people to go to the polls on Sunday and fight for a “progressive future”.

Yesterday, the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDSM) claimed that the opposition candidate for Skopje Metropolitan Municipality, Danela Arsovska, has had Bulgarian citizenship since 2011, even presenting a document from the Bulgarian authorities.

Today, in a press conference, SDSM claimed that Arsovska in 2017 received a Bulgarian police ID card, and even presented photocopies of her ID card on the screen. The photocopy shows Arsovska’s photograph, while her address in Bulgaria is marked as the town of Petriq.

Zoran Zaev, in an interview this morning with an online media in Skopje, said that there is no doubt that Arsovska also has Bulgarian citizenship and that she expects her to withdraw her candidacy for the municipality of Skopje.

“I say that Danela Arsovska is also a Bulgarian citizen. There is nothing wrong here, but the problem is political, moral, dishonest. You need to tell your fellow citizens. I believe that the citizens of Skopje will not allow themselves to be manipulated. In life, if you decide to be a representative of a foreign country, then you do. You can not be a representative of a foreign state and claim a high position. I expect Arsovska to withdraw immediately if she has love for Skopje and the citizens of the country’s capital. “This is a humiliation,” said Zoran Zaev.

Danela Arsovska today denied the accusations of the Socialist Party that she also has Bulgarian citizenship and warned that she will take legal action against those who spread such baseless accusations.

“I completely deny these accusations and I must say that not only the citizens of Skopje, but also the whole of Macedonia knows and believes that those who sold the Macedonian national interests, now, a few days before the elections, are coming out with such claims. unargued that hurt me “, said Arsofska.

Danela Arsovska’s application for Bulgarian citizenship comes just days before the crucial second round of municipal elections in northern Macedonia on Sunday (October 31st), where VMRO-DPMNE-backed Arsovkska leads SDSM candidate ./ibna
