BiH: Minister Košarac accused Minister Turković of obstruction

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, has confirmed that he has been prevented from leading the BiH delegation to the annual General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which will be held between 20 September. and 24 in Vienna.

In a statement to SRNA, the Kocarac News Agency said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Bisera Turković, refused to give his consent to lead the delegation to the General Conference of the highest international body for nuclear energy, under the auspices of United Nations.

“Since Turković will attend the UN General Assembly in New York during this rally, my Office has launched an initiative to lead the BiH delegation as Minister responsible for energy at the BiH level, at an event where we can to express our power to oppose the construction of the controversial landfill in Trgovska Gora “, stressed Košarac.

He also confirmed media claims that based on the decision of the head of diplomacy, BiH will be represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister at an important event in the Austrian capital.

“Without intending to reduce the importance and role of the Deputy Minister, I believe it would be much better and more efficient at the ministerial level within the IAEA General Conference to talk about the burning issue that residents of 13 municipalities have in the river basin. “Unfortunately, Turković has not been concerned and lacks understanding for such a need,” Košarac noted.

According to him, this move by the current foreign minister in the Council of Ministers is the latest in a series of obstacles in its efforts to resolve the issue of radioactive waste and the construction of spent nuclear landfills in Trgovska Gora near the border with BiH.

He reiterates the view that Trgovska Gora should not be subject to politicization, as a potential landfill of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel would endanger the health of 250,000 inhabitants and the environment.

“I would not like to remind you of all the blockades of Turkovic during the formation of the Legal and Expert Team, namely the BiH working bodies that deal with this issue to resolve it. “There are really inexplicable and illogical reasons for anyone, let alone the foreign minister of a country, to oppose the presentation of an issue that threatens the people of the country, in an important international gathering of the highest diplomatic level.” tha Košarac.
