Romania: Borders open for inbound tourism from June 1st

The Romanian Entry Association (AIR) welcomes the government’s decision to lift the COVID ban on foreigners entering the country, reports agerpres.

“This is a useful measure for all of us and is, in fact, the signal for the resumption of international tourism in Romania. From now on, foreign tourists are allowed in Romania, respecting the decisions of the National Council for Emergency Situations to enter our country depending on the epidemiological situation of the country of departure. Foreign partners of Romanian incoming agencies were expecting the move to once again promote Romania as a tourist destination and resume sales of tour packages to that destination. “This sends a strong external signal that Romania is a safe and secure tourist destination,” AIR said in a statement today.

“We are looking forward to further easing the restrictions that should bring us closer to normalcy and optimal conditions for running tourism services in Romania. The responsibility to get involved and provide safe and quality tourism services in Romania now rests with all actors in the hospitality industry. Romania is waiting with confidence for its guests to discover a beautiful dynamic country, inspired by tradition, looking forward! Just send tourists! “, Said the representatives of the Association Romania.

According to the latest data provided by the National Institute of Statistics, foreign arrivals in Romania recorded at border checkpoints stood at 317,800 in March this year, up 22.4 per cent from last year. Road and air transport were the predominant modes of arrival used by incoming passengers, accounting for 86.9 percent and 8.8 percent of the total number of arrivals, respectively.

Arrivals in tourist accommodation institutions this March amounted to 431,300, up 78.1 percent compared to March 2020; Romanians made up 94.2 per cent of the figure and foreigners 5.8 per cent. /ibna
