The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades chaired a meeting of the National Council today at the Presidential Palace.
The meeting was also attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Health, as well as the Greek Cypriot Negotiator on the Cyprus problem Andreas Mavroyiannis.
During the meeting, President Anastasiades briefed members of the National Council on preparations for the Cyprus informal talks in Geneva on 27-29 April convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and on the work done so far on specific issues.
He also briefed on the program and structure of the informal conference as defined by the United Nations and further analyzed the objectives and strategy to be pursued by the Cypriot side in the informal Geneva talks.
The President of the Republic will leave for Geneva on the morning of April 26, accompanied by the leaders of the political parties.
Furthermore, during the National Council meeting, the President briefed the members of the National Council on the current situation in the country regarding the coronavirus pandemic, as well as on the framework of measures that the Government is planning to take.
