At the invitation of Slovenian Foreign Minister Ance Logar, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Lucian Aurescu began an official visit to Slovenia. The visit is aimed at strengthening friendly relations between Slovenia and Romania and deepening cooperation between the two countries, both at the regional and international level, as well as on all issues that are essential for European citizens.
Minister Logar and Minister Aurescu agreed that Slovenia and Romania are linked by good and friendly relations and regular and constructive cooperation within the European Union, NATO and regional and international forums. Like Slovenia, Romania is involved in the Three Seas Initiative. Minister Logar thus reaffirmed Slovenia’s interest in connecting with Romania in strategic infrastructure projects of common interest.
During their talks, Minister Logar presented to his Romanian counterpart the priorities of the forthcoming Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Ministers reaffirmed their mutual desire and readiness for constructive cooperation both before and during the Slovenian Presidency on all key strategic issues.
Ministers Logar and Aurescu also discussed other current European and international topics, such as measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, migration, transatlantic relations, the Eastern Partnership and the situation in the Western Balkans.
In addition to his counterpart who welcomed him to Slovenia, Aursecu also met with President Borut Pahor and National Assembly President Igor Zorcic.
